1969

  • Started Karatedo Training at Singapore Shitoryu Karatedo Association under the supervision of Sensei Tsutomu Yoneda

1972

  • Obtained Shodan (1st Dan) in Shitoryu Karatedo

1973

  • Participated in 1st Asian Pacific Tournament in Singapore

  • Singapore Team came in Third in the Team Event 

  • 1974

  • Obtained Nidan (2nd Dan)

1975

  • Represented Singapore in 3rd World Karatedo Tournament at Los Angeles

  • Silver Medalist in 2nd Singapore Open Championships organised by Singapore Karatedo Federation

1976

  • Participated in 2nd Asian Pacific Tournament in Jakarta (2nd APUKO)

  • Silver Medallist in 3rd National Karatedo Championships, Pesta Sukan in Singapore

  • Bronze Medallist in Team Kumite in the same Championships

  • Chief Instructor in Ngee Ann Polytechnic with members around 120

  • Awarded Book Award for Poetry, by National Book Development Council of Singapore for his publication of poetry collection entitled ‘The God is sobbing’

1977

  • Participated in 3rd Asian Pacific Tournament in Tokyo (3rd APUKO)

1978

  • Obtained Sandan (3rd Dan) in Shitoryu Karatedo

  • Participated in 1 Asean Shitoryu Tournament in Singapore

 

1980

  • Gold Medallist on Open Kumite in Asian Shitoryu Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia

 

1983

  • Obtained Yondan (4th Dan) in Shitoryu Karatedo

 

1989

  • Obtained Godan (5th Dan) in Shitoryu Karatedo

  • Senior Instructor in Shitoryu Karate Association

 

1991

  • Obtained Kata Judge qualification in APUKO Championships, New Zealand

 

1995

  • Obtained Rokku Dan (6th Dan) in Shitoryu Karatedo

 

1997

  • Founded Ken Shin Kai Karate Club in Singapore, with a strength of 200 members 

  • Award Long Service Medal (PBS) from President of Singapore

 

1999

  • Obtained Nana Dan (7th Dan) from Soke Ken-ei Mabuni, Japan

  • Obtained Singapore Karatedo Federation 7th Dan

  • Elected and Appointed as the Honorary Secretary of Singapore Karatedo Federation (1999 to date)

  • As Honorary Secretary, organised the yearly Pesta Sukan Karatedo Championships

  • Member of 4th Asian Union of Karatedo Organisation Championship and Congress

 

2000

  • Obtained WKF 6th Dan

  • Refereeing in the National Championships

  • Attended 5th AKF Junior Championships in Macao as Team Official.

 

2001

  • Obtained AKF Kumite Judge B qualification

  • Team Manager of Singapore Team in XXI Sea Games in Kuala Lumpur Karatedo Championships

  • Refereeing in the National Championships

 

2002

  • Attended Penang Open Invitational Tournament as Team Manager

 

2004

  • Organised and Conducted National Accreditation Course in partnership with Singapore Sports Council

  • Introduced the NCAP Technical Certification to the first batch of karatekas in Singapore with such qualifications

2005

  • Renewed AKF Kumite Judge B qualification

  • Team Manager of Singapore Team in Cebu Philippines, 23rd Sea Games Karatedo Championships

  • Obtained Master Coach Qualification from Singapore Registry of Coaching (3 year validity) for Karatedo in the Singapore Sports Council

  • Refereeing in the National Championships

 

2006

  • Organised 8th AKF Junior and Cadet Karatedo Championships

  • Refereed in the National Championships

  • Attended Pra Sukma Karatedo Championships in Malaysia as Team Manager of Singapore Team

  • Obtained Asia Karatedo Federation Judge A qualification

  • Awarded 10th Year Long Service Award from Tanglin CC Management

 

2007

  • Released duty as Honorary Secretary of Singapore Karatedo Federation since January 2007

  • Obtained St John First Aid Certificate (3 year validity)

  • Obtained Australia Sports Trainer Certification, and Australia Sports First Aider Certificate

  • Undergraduate of Sports Science Degree Course in Edith Cowan University of Australia

  • Vice President of Ken Shin Kai Karate Club, Singapore

  • Singapore representative of International Senshinkai Karatedo Union

  • Attended various courses and talks organised by Singapore Sports Council

 

2008

  • Official Coach for Ken Shin Kai Karate Club to Teluk Danga International Games, 2008

  • KSK achieved a Bronze Medal in the Lady Individual Kata event

  • Given public talk at Pek Kio Community Centre, on 4/3/2008 on ‘Sport, karate and Well-being’

 

2009

  • Obtained 7th Dan and Shihan title from DNBK organisation, Japan

 

2014

  • Officiated in 14th APSKF Championship in Hong Kong

 

2015

  • Awarded Shitoryu 8th Dan by International Seishinkai Karatedo Union (ISKU)

  • Obtained Hanshi Title by ISKU
